About Asset Management BC
Asset Management BC, established in 2008, is the greater community of any person, organization or agency engaged in, or has an interest in, asset management.
Asset Management BC’s vision is Sustainable Service Delivery, whereby community services are delivered in a social, economic and environmentally responsible manner that does not compromise the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Its mission is consistent with the Asset Management for Sustainable Service Delivery: A BC Framework, to learn, educate, share and collaborate asset management best practices through a community of practice.
It is with this intent that the Asset Management BC ‘OurAssetsMatter’ Recognition Award has been established.
Asset Management BC #OurAssetsMatter Awards
The #OurAssetsMatter Award recognizes and celebrates the actions/activities of individuals and organizations that demonstrate leadership, passion and excellence in meeting the vision and mission of Asset Management BC.
The award is designed to profile asset management champions who have given back to the asset management community, advanced the asset management industry and/or provided leadership in asset management.
2022 was the first year that Asset Management BC offered these awards.
The 2023 #OurAssetsMatter Award winners were:
- Arnold Schwabe – Wally Wells Award
- City of Cranbrook – Sustainable Service Delivery Champion – Organization
Eligible Applicants & Projects for the AMBC Award
The AMBC ‘OurAssetsMatter’ Recognition Award program is open to individuals and organizations, both public and private sector.
Nominees may self-submit or be nominated by an individual/organization.
To be eligible for consideration for the AMBC #OurAssetsMatter Awards, nominees:
- Must be an individual or organization that works in BC.
- Where an individual or organization is being nominated by the third party, the third party must work in BC.
- Active members/employees of AMBC are eligible.
#OurAssetsMatter Award Categories
There are two (2) categories:
The Wally Wells Award – Individual
In honour of Wally Wells, the inaugural recipient of the Sustainable Service Delivery Champion – Individual award, the name of the award has been changed as Wally Wells truly reflects what asset management champions aspire to be. This category recognizes an individual who demonstrates leadership, passion and excellence in meeting the vision and mission of Asset Management BC within their respective organization and towards the greater asset management community of practice in BC. In addition, Wally Wells has generously contributed to the legacy of this award and it now includes a $500 honorarium to the winner each year.
Sustainable Service Delivery Champion – Organization
This category recognizes an organization that demonstrates leadership, passion and excellence in meeting the vision and mission of Asset Management BC within their respective organization and towards the greater asset management community of practice in BC.
#OurAssetsMatter Award Program Criteria
Nominations will be scored against the following criteria:
- Leadership: the extent to which the nominee has acted as a local, regional, and/or provincial leader in the development or implementation of asset management.
- Partnerships and collaboration: the breadth and depth of how the nominee has developed partnerships and collaborated in advancing asset management within their respective organization and greater community of practice in BC.
- Innovation and promising practices: the degree to which the nominee has demonstrated creativity and innovation in advancing asset management practices within their respective organization and greater community of practice in BC.
- Education and awareness: the degree to the nominee has supported, developed and/or advanced asset management education, awareness or other learnings within their respective organization and greater community of practice in BC
AMBC #OurAssetsMatter Award Nomination Process
Nomination Deadline
The application deadline is August 30, 2024
Nomination Contents
The Nomination form must include:
- Name and contact information of Nominee,
- In the case of self-nomination, an individual to endorse the nomination,
- A photo/logo of the Nominee, and
- A completed nomination form.
Nomination Judging
The AMBC Award Committee will judge all eligible nominations based on the program criteria. The AMBC Award Committee reserves the right to select co-winners and/or honourable mention winners. Award winners will be notified prior to the annual AMBC conference and will receive a free registration. For organizations, one (1) free registration will be provided for the organization’s representative. The decisions of the AMBC Award Committee will be final.
2024 AMBC Awards Ceremony
Awards will be presented during AMBC’s 2024 Conference. All delegates are invited to attend the awards event, occurring at the AMBC Conference Reception.
